Trouble for Cultists at UNICAL as Security is Increased in the Campus by the Management

UNICAL (University Of Calabar) management said they have installed intense and heavy security measures in the university environs subsequent to the death of two students in the campus by gunmen believed to be members of the rival cult who engaged in war recently.

The two deceased which are believed to belong to a dreaded secret cult known as ‘vikings confraternity’, a final year student of the Department of Theatre, Film and Carnival Studies, UNICAL named Oko Sylvester Ayide also known as Davido was shot on the stomach, and a second year student of the Department of Education of the same university; whose name is Wilson Augustine Ebina was found dead as a result of gunshot at an uncompleted building opposite Faculty of Education Twin Theartre Hall, both on the same day; Friday 16th March.

This was made known by the university’s Registrar, Mr. Moses Abang through a press release in which he also said “that the Patrolling/Combing exercise has paid off with the arrest of 11 suspected Cultists who has been handed over to the Anti-Cultism/ Kidnapping Unit of the Nigeria Police, Cross River State Command for further interrogation”, After the Vice Chancellor of the university ordered that Police Patrol Teams should be stationed at the UNICAL main gate and random stop and search operation also be carried out by the UNICAL internal security team at deliberate points in the university campus.

During investigations by the university’s security operatives a lot of dangerous items were discovered in a room belonging to one final year student named Nkanu Augustine Ebri known as Abacha, the items include military uniform and sweaters, cult regalia, charms, phones, a long dagger, a machete, face mask, a hand axe, wraps of marijuana and other illicit drugs, a local pistol, live cartridges and host of other dangerous items.

Nkanu and his friend Obimbua Obey Joseph also known as Obe were nowhere to be found and these raised a suspicion to be linked to the death of Oko and Ebina.
