How to Track Any Free to Air Channels On DSTV Decoders

  • Remove the ‘LNB in’ cable at the back of the DSTV decoder.
  • Switch ON the decoder and ignore the message on the TV screen telling you ‘there is no signal’.
  • Press the DSTV/MENU/Blue button on the decoder’s remote controller.
  • While on the menu, go to ‘SETTINGS’.
  • Select ‘SATELLITE SETTING’.
  • Choose ‘ADDITIONAL NETWORKS’.
  • Select ‘NETWORK 1’.
  • Change ‘Enable Network’ to ‘YES’.
  • Now you will notice that other information in the network 1 window is editable.
  • Go to frequency and input the free to air satellite TV frequency you want to track.
  • Go to symbol rate and input the symbol rate digits.
  • Change the polarization to that of the satellite you want to track.
  • Go to the satellite dish and track for the signal.
  • After you must have received the signal; select ‘SCAN THIS’.
  • Wait for the scanning to complete.
  • Upon the completion of the scanning; press ‘221’ on the remote controller.
  • Press and go to the channel ‘GRID’ and you will see the free to air channels added to the list.
  • Select the channel you want to watch and enjoy.

You can use Disecq with DSTV decoder if you want to connect more than 1 satellite dish, but you must input the satellite you want to watch in Disecq 1 or A.

  1. I followed the steps and it scanned the channels but I could not find them on my channel list. I set the chennel list to all channels.
    I use DStv HD decoder.

    1. After scanning press 221 or any non working channel number on your dstv remote, then go to the channel grid and you will see the new channels added after all the dstv channels.

      1. Pls I fix all the settings but it refuse to scan just showing scanning but the home network still showing on top

          1. But sir, there’s no place to tell us when to put back the cable to LNB IN from the instruction. please can you clarify that as i couldnt still get it even after using a strong decoder to track MULTI TV satellite on Astra 2F. thank you.

      1. it means it needs its signal to be searched alone, like i have 4 decoders attached to one dstv dish but trying to get rid of 2 of them to search for local stations for free.
        Advice

        1. I tried it and it worked… Just follow the instructions as started by “Techcrunch” Mytv, Multitv and the likes all came up after insacting the normal frequency for each ? Satalite…

  2. i managed to search the channels on network 2 and they are saved when i go to the Grid.problem is the decoder blocked them

        Or is the hack no longer up to date?
