Nigerian Army Direct Short Service Commission Course, DSSC 2020

Eligible and Interested Nigerians are invited for applications into the Nigerian Army Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) 2020.

The application is open to both civilians and serving military personnel, however, only serving military personnel sponsored by any of the Services of the Nigerian Armed Forces to civil institutions is eligible.

Nigerian Army Engineers

Qualifications

  • Applicant must have at least a BSc (Eng)/B Engr degree with the minimum of Second Class Lower or HND certification with at least Lower Credit in either of the following fields: Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Engineering. These areas are acceptable as well; Architecture, Quantity/Estate/Land Surveying, Town Planning, Geology or Geographic Information Systems.

Nigerian Army Signals

Qualifications

  • Applicant must possess at least a BSc degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower or HND certification with a Lower Credit score in either of the following fields: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Satellite Communication, Management Information Systems.

Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps

Qualifications

  • Applicant must have at least a BSc/ BA degree with Second Class Lower or HND certification with Lower Credit in either of the following fields: Psychology, Computer Information Management, Forensic Science, Computer Data mining, Intelligence Analysis.

Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport

Qualifications

  • Applicant must possess a minimum of BSc, BA degree certification with Second Class Lower or HND with a Lower Credit score in either of the following fields: Catering and Hotel Management, Food Technology, Marketing, Shipping and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Economics.
    An applicant with good working experience has an added advantage.

Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps

Qualifications

  • Applicants must have a minimum of BSc, B Engr, BA degree certification with at least Second Class Lower or HND certificate with a Lower Credit score in either of the following fields: Production Engineering, Purchasing and Supply, Chemistry, Computer Science & Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Ballistics, Textile & Material Management, Physics, Logistics & Supply Management, and Public Administration.

Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers

Qualifications

  • Applicant must possess at least a B Eng, BSc (Eng) degree certificate with Second Class Lower score or HND certification with Lower Credit in either of the following fields: Electronics, Automotive, Mechatronics, Systems, Weapon, and Marine Engineering. These fields are considered: Marine Architecture, Computer Engineering, Material Science.
  • Must be a registered member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

Nigerian Army Medical Corps

Medical and Dental Consultants

  • Applicants should belong to any of the following areas of specialization: General Surgery, ENT Surgeons, Orthopaedic Surgery, Anesthesia, Neuro Surgery, Cardiothoracic, Physicians (Cardiologists, Endocrinologist, Nephrologists and Neurologists), Ophthalmologists as well as Obstetrics and Gynaecologists, Paediatricians and Family Physicians.
  • Must be a member of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria or its equivalent.
  • Should not be more than 40 years old.
  • He or She must be fully registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) for the undergraduate degree and additional qualification registration as appropriate.
  • Must possess a current MDCN license to practice as a specialist.

General Duty Medical/Dental Officers

Qualifications

  • Applicants must possess MBBS/BDS certification or equivalent with a maximum of 5 years post – qualification experience.
  • Must be fully registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

Optometrists

Qualifications

  • Applicant must have a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree certification.
    Must be a registered to the relevant professional body.

Dental Therapists and Dental Technologists

Qualifications

  • Applicants must possess Higher Diplomas.
  • Must be a fully registered member of relevant professional bodies.

Clinical Psychologists

Qualifications

  • The applicant must possess a BSc degree certification in Clinical Psychology.

Nurses

Qualifications

  • The applicant must possess a BSc Nursing certification.
  • Must be fully registered to the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

Pharmacists

Qualifications

  • The applicant must possess a Bachelor of Pharmacy certification.
  • Must be a registered member of the Pharmacist Council of Nigeria.

Professionals Allied to Medicine

Qualifications

  • Applicant must have a minimum of Second Class Lower degree in either of the following fields: Hospital Administration, Radiology – Medical Image Science, BMLS, AIMLS, and AIMLT – Medical Laboratory Science, Environmental Health Workers, Physiotherapy, Nutrition/Dietetics, Health Service Administration and Health Information Management.

Note: All applicants for Medical Corps must present proof of registration with their professional regulatory bodies, as well as their current practicing license.

Nigerian Army Band Corps

Qualifications

  • Applicant must have a minimum of BA degree certification with Second Class Lower or HND certificate with a Lower Credit score or equivalent in Music with L.R.A.M and A.R.C.M.

Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police

Qualifications

  • Applicant must have LLB BL, and at least BSc, BA degree with Second Class Lower or HND certification with a Lower Credit score in either of the following fields: Criminology, Sociology, Psychology.

Nigerian Army Finance Corps

Qualifications

  • Applicant must possess a minimum of BA degree with Second Class Lower position in either of the following fields: Economics, Accountancy, and Business Administration or HND certification with a Lower Credit score in Business and Accounts.
  • Must be a registered member of either of the following Professional Accountancy body: ICAN, ANAN, ACMA, ACCA, ACA.

Nigerian Army Education Corps

Qualifications

  • Applicant must possess at least a Second Class Lower degree in either of the following fields: BSc (Ed) in Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Library/Information Science and BEd in French, Portuguese, German and English Languages.

Note: All applicants for Education Corps, must present proof of registration with their professional regulatory bodies.

Directorate of Chaplain Services (Protestant)

Qualifications

  • Applicant must have a minimum of BA degree certification with Second Class Lower division in Pastoral Psychology, Pastoral Counseling, New Testament Theology, Old Testament Theology, and Child Evangelism acquired from any of the Seminaries/Universities recognized by the Nigerian Army Directorate of Chaplain Services (Protestant).
  • Must belong to either of the 18 major denominations of the Protestant faith.
    All Soldiers applying for this position must have served the NA with at least 5 years of experience in Chaplaincy work and must be vetted and recommended by the NA Directorate of Chaplain Services (Protestant).

Directorate of Chaplain Services (Roman Catholic)

Qualifications

  • Applicant must have a minimum of Bachelor degree with at least Second Class Lower division in either of the following fields: Philosophy and Theology from a Roman Catholic approved seminary, affiliated to a NUC accredited University or Urbanian University, Rome.
  • Must have good standing in Roman Catholic and be also released by a Diocesan Bishop.
  • Must be vetted and recommended by the Nigerian Army Directorate of Chaplain Services (Roman Catholic).

Directorate of Islamic Affairs

Qualifications

  • Applicant must have a minimum of BA, BEd certification with at least a Second Class Lower degree in Arabic and Islamic Studies, LLB Sharia with Diploma in Arabic obtained from a recognized Nigerian university, Azhar University, Cairo or Saudi University.
  • The applicant must present the testimony of excellent character from a reputable religious organization in Nigeria.
  • Must be able to speak the English Language.

Directorate of Legal Service

Qualifications

  • The applicant must possess LLB BL certification obtained from a recognized institution.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years post Law School legal practice and must present the evidence.

Directorate of Army Public Relations

Qualifications

  • Applicant must have a minimum of BSc, BA certification with at least a Second Class Lower degree or HND certification with a Lower Credit score in either Advertising, Graphic Design, Journalism, Printing, Radio & Television Broadcasting, Public Relations, and Radio Operation and Performance.
  • Applicant must present evidence of Membership to any Professional body in relation to media operation and journalism.

Directorate of Army Physical Training

Qualifications

  • Applicant must have at least a Second Class Lower degree or HND certification with a Lower Credit score in either of the following fields: Human Kinetics, Physical and Health Education, Sports Administration (PGD), Sports Coaching, Physiotherapy or Sports Psychology.

Directorate of Army Aviation

Qualifications

  • Applicant must have a minimum of BSc/B Eng certificate with at least a Second Class Lower degree or HND certification with a minimum of Lower Credit score with other relevant trade qualification from a government-approved institution for the following fields: Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering.

Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering: Must possess at least B Eng/ HND Certification in Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of work experience.

Mechanical Engineering: Must possess at least B Eng/ HND Certification in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of work experience.

Electrical Engineering: Minimum of B Eng or HND in Electrical Electronics (Power option) is required.

Air Traffic Controller: Minimum of BSc degrees in Geography/Physics/Mathematics with NCAA approved Air Traffic Control License.

Fire Fighter: Must possess a BSc certification in Chemistry/Physics with NCAA approved Fire Fighting License from any reputable organization.

Entry Requirements

  • Applicant must be a Nigerian as defined in the Federal Republic of Nigeria constitution.
  • Must be a male/ female between the ages of 20 and 30 years, while medical consultants must not be more than 40 years old by January 2021.
  • Applicants must be medical, mentally and physically fit according to NA standards.
  • Must be recommended by a minimum of 2 recognizable referees who must attest to the applicant’s character and integrity. The referees can be a Local Government Chairman/Secretary or an officer of the Armed Forces who should be ranked Lieutenant Colonel or equivalent and above, or an Assistant Commissioner of Police and above. The referee must hail from the same state of the applicant. Passport photographs of referees must be attached to the letter of attestation.
  • The applicant must submit a letter of Attestation from his/ her former institutions.
  • Male applicants must measure at least 1.68m in height.
  • Female applicants must measure at least 1.65m in height.
  • Applicants must have not been convicted by any court of law.
  • Military personnel must be free from any disciplinary case and this must be approved by the Commanding Officer/Commander.
  • Applicants must possess a minimum of the first-degree certification with not less than Second Class Lower Division or HND of not less than Lower Credit score which must have been obtained from any recognized institution.

  • The applicant must have a valid birth certificate approved by the National Population Commission, Hospital, or Local Government Council. A valid age Declaration is accepted.
  • Must possess a valid state of origin certification.
  • NYSC discharge certificate or a valid exemption letter is a must.
  • Graduates with professional qualifications must be fully registered members of their relevant bodies recognized by Nigerian Laws at the commencement of cadet training.

  • Additionally, they must have served for a minimum period of 5 years in the unit.
  • Applicants must not be members of any cult/society/fraternity.
  • All-female candidates are advised to seek commission into specialist corps e;g Medical, Legal Service, Supply and Transport or Army Public Relations.

  • After successful registration, an email notification containing your login details will be sent to your inbox.
  • Click on ‘Login’ to complete the application form.
  • Upload the following documents:
    – Passport photograph.
    – Educational Certificates.
    – Evidence of membership of any professional body.
    – Certificate of state of origin.
    – Birth certificate or age declaration.
    – Upon completion, print Out the online generated photo-slip of your application.
  • The first page is to be signed by a Court of Law while the second page is to be signed by the Local Government Chairman/Secretary or any military officer with a rank of Lieutenant Colonel or equivalent and above who is from the same state with you.
  • The photo-slips should be kept well as it will be presented to the selection board during the interview if the applicant is successful.
